2022 Physics Congress COVID-19 Policy

Meeting attendance will requires vaccination and mask use during events, in agreement with CDC and organization guidelines. No vaccine exemptions of any kind will be allowed. Participants are not required to recieve boosters and must recieve their vaccination before Sept 16, 2022. While participating in events held or sponsored by the Society of Physics Students (SPS) consistent with CDC guidelines, participants are encouraged to practice hand hygiene, social distancing, and wear face coverings to reduce the risks of exposure to COVID-19. Because COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is spread mainly from person-to-person contact, SPS has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. However, SPS cannot guarantee that its participants, volunteers, partners, or others in attendance will not become infected. By attending the event, you agree that SPS will not be held responsible for anyone that becomes contracts COVID or becomes sick while attending the 2022 Physics Congress.

While organizers hope to practice social distancing and adhere to safety guidelines, attendees may still come into close contact. For this reason, SPS requires all attendees to show a valid ID with a copy of proof of full vaccination. This can include their vacccination card or photographic proof of vaccination. Failure to be vaccinated for the event will result in no badge to be isssues and your registration for the event cancelled. Note: Beyond the SPS sessions and events, as of this writing, masks are not required elsewhere as per local CDC guidelines but are encouraged.

SPS will supply masks if you forget yours and hand sanitizer at various stations throughout the event. For the safety of all in-person attendees, we ask that you please closely monitor your health. Shall you begin to experience symptoms of COVID-19 during the meeting, please inform all close contacts and submit an email to sps [at] aip.org.

Students that attend the SPS meeting are expected to abide by strict COVID-19 guidelines. Students may be subject to temperature checks and testing while attending the conference. In the event a student begins to display symptoms of COVID and is boarding with another student, SPS will be handle these situations on case-by-case basis as they arise.

Please DO NOT attend the SPS Conference if:

1. Individuals who currently or within the past five (5) days have tested postive for COVD -19 and experienced any symptoms associated with COVID-19, which include fever, cough, and shortness of breath among others;

2. Individuals who have traveled to a community in the U.S. that has experienced or is experiencing sustained community spread of COVID-19; or

3. Individuals who believe that they may have been exposed to a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 or have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and are not yet cleared as non-contagious by state or local public health authorities or the health care team responsible for their treatment.
