Congratulations to the newly elected members of the SPS/Sigma Pi Sigma National Council

The University of Maine will host the 2017 Zone 1 Spring Meeting in Orono, Maine.

The theme will be Engineering Astronomy, the Technology of Observing.

Planned events include a Friday-night social, an amazing invited speaker, student research presentations, space-station tracking, and solar-viewer construction.

The SPS Chapter at Swarthmore College will host the Zone 3 Spring Meeting on Saturday, April 8.

Zone 10 will have its 2017 Spring Meeting March 31-April 1st at Henderson State University.

A successful event that didn’t go as planned

The Millikin University Chapter of SPS will be hosting an SPS Zone 8 Meeting that contains students presentations, poster presentations, viewing of the night sky through numerous large telescopes and a talk by Dr. Robert Arn (astrophotographer). We encourage everyone to attend and look forward to meeting everyone!

Coe College in Cedar Rapids is hosting the zone 11 meeting March 17-19, 2017.

Jim Gates will be the plenary speaker!

We plan to have student posters and talks, a tour of Rockwell-Collins avionics, and demos.
