Molly McDonough is a sophomore at Suffolk University, studying physics with a minor in computer science. Currently, she serves as a Teaching Assistant, an Alternative Spring Break Leader and a McNair Scholar. She also serves as a member of NPC and Greek Council in conjunction with her membership in Alpha Sigma Alpha, a sorority on campus at Suffolk. Along with this, she is currently serving as the Vice President of the Society of Physics Students chapter at Suffolk. Through this, she and her colleagues have been given the opportunity to present the research that the Suffolk University SPS chapter does at the 2018 April APS Meeting. Since her arrival at Suffolk in Fall 2017, she has been extremely involved and active in her department through working on multiple research projects including work in particle physics and virtual/ augmented reality. Beyond schoolwork, Molly is actively working on starting her own non profit called Lightspeed Science to benefit and encourage gender diversity in STEM. After graduation, she plans to pursue her PhD in physics and continue to fight for equality and access for women in STEM.
