My fourth week as an SPS intern was quite enjoyable! I’m really enjoying my new accommodations at George Washington University and I’m adjusting well to my commute. It’s exciting to be in a metropolitan area with so many people and so much going on.
Science. Last week I got a taste of the excitement. This week, however, it seemed I was destined to round out my scientific experience. I found myself trudging through a large bundle of data. I had run a number of datacubes through the program that we’ve been using.
Nicole and I visited NIST last Friday to get prepared for the upcoming Summer Institute. There was a fruitful discussion of ideas, some precipitous meetings, and then we got to unpack toys.
It’s been another eventful week here in the nation’s capital! In the committee office, all of the staff and us interns were working to prepare for two hearings and a markup of the National Windstorm Reduction Act.
Time is flying by here in DC. It feels like there are not even 24 hours in a day. The National Symphony Orchestra made me feel cultured. It was fun to get dressed up and go out as a complete group.
As cliché as it sounds, it’s incredibly amazing to think this is already the end of the second week. My calendar seemed to be less packed with activities, and yet the time flew by even faster.
That concert was good! However, I like faster pieces… Week 3 has passed, and I would say this was the music week, since I had the opportunity to attend several concerts-presentations.
Friday we ended up not going to the outdoor concert because it was raining so much. Instead we went to an Ethiopian Restaurant called Etete. They had these really good appetizers that were like Indian Samosas.
