Project Overview
East Central University (ECU) will celebrate its Centennial in 2009. The physics department
would like to have a reunion bringing all of our physics graduates back to ECU and what better
time than the centennial to do this!
We plan part of two days for all physics graduates and minors to come back to ECU to celebrate our Centennial, meet old friends, see how
ECU has changed, make significant new connections with current ECU students, and make
connections with Sigma Pi Sigma at ECU. The event will make our local Sigma Pi Sigma much
more active (goal of the activity), and make the alumni more a part of Sigma Pi
Sigma (secondary goal of the activity) by visiting campus and interacting with current students
and with future students through the electronic video registry. |

Project Overview
We plan on hosting a dinner for undergraduate physics majors and physics faculty members to encourage interaction outside of the academic settings of classrooms and laboratories. This will promote informal discussions about topics in and out of physics. This event will also increase students’ awareness of our chapter and the contributions it can make to our community with greater involvement. |

Project Overview
In hope of inspiring the minds of tomorrow and to facilitate the recruitment of new members, Mesa State College’s chapters of Society of Physics Students and Sigma Pi Sigma propose to involve local middle and high school students in a “Physics Olympics” competition. We plan to invite the winners of the “Physics Olympics” to our annual induction ceremony and to open our induction dinner to all of our physics majors. Project Report |

Project Overview
The Penn State University Sigma Pi Sigma chapter would like to organize an astronomy-themed art display, beginning with a reception open to community members in the student union building. Artwork would then be displayed at non-traditional locations throughout the university, in places such as residence halls and classroom buildings. Our display would also be incorporated into the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, and include kid-oriented astronomy art activities. |
