Get to Congress: Planning Your Trip

The host hotel and Fermilab are located approximately 35 miles west of Chicago, in Naperville, IL.

Where should we stay?

The official Congress hotel is the Holiday Inn Select® in Naperville, IL. Some Congress events will be held here, although the majority will be at Fermilab.

The hotel is about 13 miles from Fermilab—transportation will be provided between the Holiday Inn Select® and Fermilab daily. The Congress kicks off Thursday evening and concludes Saturday night, so expect to stay three nights.

Discounted room rates are available for all Sigma Pi Sigma Congress attendees: $109/night for up to quadruple occupancy.

How do we get there?

Airports

The closest airports to the hotel and Fermilab are Midway and O’Hare.

There are no convenient/direct METRA commuter rail lines from the airports to the official hotel, the Holiday Inn Select, in Naperville, IL.

Train Stations

The closest train station with an Amtrak terminal is Union Station in Chicago, IL. There is a METRA commuter rail line that runs from Union Station to Naperville, IL:

To schedule the Holiday Inn Select's shuttle for pick-up from the METRA station in Naperville,
call 1-630-505-4900 and ask to be connected to the bellman. Call in advance of arrival if possible.

Driving

We strongly encourage schools within driving distance to look into renting a van or bus and carpooling with other Congress attendees – remember to include space for luggage! See the Ride Share/Room Share bulletin boards to connect with other attendees.

Local Transportation

Congress participants are responsible for obtaining their own transportation to and from airports and train terminals, and the Holiday Inn Select hotel.

Taxi Information

Both Midway and O'Hare Airports are in Chicago city limits, and if you take a city cab to the host hotel or the suburbs of Chicago there are additional taxes added to your fee. The taxi service to use to avoid this is American Taxi. There will be a city cab line and a suburban cab line at the airports. Go to the suburban cab line for the best rates.

Ride Share & Room Share Bulletin Board

We have started a ride share/room share exchange bulletin board for Congress attendees.

The bulletin board is housed in The Lounge of The Nucleus; which is part of ComPADRE, an SPS/AIP-supported digital library.

Those not already registered with The Nucleus are simply required to create a login profile using their full name, email address and a chosen password to use the bulletin boards.
