Education Programs Coordinator

Danielle Weiland received her B.A. in Physics with a minor in Mathematics from Carthage College in her hometown of Kenosha, Wisconsin. While pursuing her undergraduate degree she was the President of Carthage’s chapter of the Society of Physics Students (SPS), the department’s Outreach Coordinator, attended the 2012 PhysCon, and was inducted into Sigma Pi Sigma her senior year. She is also a member of Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK), the National Leadership Honor Society. Danielle spent three years of her undergraduate career conducting research with NASA’s System Engineering Educational Discovery (SEED) Program and had the opportunity to fly on the Zero-G plane twice to test their experiment in a reduced gravity environment. After graduating, Danielle continued to be an active member of SPS as a member of the 2016 PhysCon Planning Committee.

Danielle joined the SPS National Staff as the Education Programs Coordinator in 2017. Her time is spent managing the SPS Award application process, working with the Programs Manager to effectively process all awards and scholarships, and coordinating the SPS intern program and other events such as PhysCon and SPS Congressional Visits Day. In her free time, Danielle is a NASA Solar System Ambassador who focuses on communicating science and assisting with NASA sponsored events in the Washington D.C. metro area.

Danielle is most passionate about STEM outreach, and also frequently conducts Career & Resume workshops geared towards undergraduate students in Physics.
