The planning committee for the 2016 Quadrennial Physics Congress (PhysCon), along with the SPS management team, recently spent an invigorating weekend at a planning retreat in the Silicon Valley, CA, area where they worked out meeting logistics with the host hotel, finalized workshop topics, and carried out site visits with three science and technology organizations in preparation for next year’s gathering.

Tying in with the theme “Unifying Fields: Science Driving Innovation,” discussions are on track for scientific tours at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and NASA’s Ames Research Center, and an exclusive site visit at Google X. Based on trends from the past several congresses, organizers are planning for roughly 1,200 attendees, many of them undergraduate physics students, at this stimulating event hosted by Sigma Pi Sigma, the physics honor society. Anyone interested in physics is invited to attend.

See the list of confirmed speakers and follow meeting preparations on the 2016 Congress website.
