The first full week at work went by fast. It’s only the second week and I feel like I’m getting into the swing of things: I have a grip on my project at work and I have begun to explore activities, museums, concerts and such in DC.

This week I moved to a city I’ve never been to on the exact opposite side of the country from where I grew up (Seattle) with only one suitcase and a backpack to be the Education and Diversity Statistics Intern for the American Physical Society (APS).

That’s a wrap. Signed, sealed, delivered. End scene. Or is it “and” scene… I’ve never been clear on that. Well, it’s a good thing this wasn’t an acting internship.

Almost there. It seems like the closer we get to week 10, the quicker the days go by. Maybe it’s because I feel settled into my routine? I’m not sure, but as Brad put it this week, June felt like a week, July felt like a day, and August feels like an hour.

This week, I spent my time finalizing my work at APS and getting the products of my work published on the APS website. Throughout my internship, I made a lot of tough decisions, experienced the implications and consequences of those decision, and learned a lot.

It’s really hard to believe my time as a SPS intern is over. This past week was jammed packed with final preparations, practice, last minute documentation, and final meetings. I’m truly sad to see my internship come to a close, but all good things must end.

It’s hard to believe how fast time has flown—I will be presenting my results next week! I spent this week working on my presentation and analyzing my data. I still need to add one more visualization of my results, but otherwise the slides are all done!
