Award Details & Application Form
Sigma Pi Sigma is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2011 Chapter Project Awards. These annual awards recognize chapter efforts to raise public awareness of the honor society, build Sigma Pi Sigma's student/alumni community, and promote inter-chapter activities. The winning chapters receive funds to help them achieve proposed activities. They are:

Sigma Pi Sigma Induction Ceremony and Dinner to Honor Graduating Seniors
Our chapter of the Society of Physics Students would like to host a banquet during the spring semester of 2011 to honor Sigma Pi Sigma inductees and graduating seniors. Invitations will be sent to Henderson alumni and current members, as well as selected physics majors at Arkansas Technical University. ATU does not currently have an SPS chapter, so we would like to share our experiences with them. This event will also include a guest speaker. |

Honoring New Inductees and Presenting an Outstanding Service Award
The purpose of this event will be to honor new Sigma Pi Sigma inductees, to award a Sigma Pi Sigma Outstanding Service Award to our long-time administrative coordinator and to fellowship with the local physics community. We plan to make the evening even more memorable by bringing in a successful alumnus to speak. |

Sigma Pi Sigma Induction Ceremony and Egg Drop Competition
In an effort to increase interest in physics in the local community and in the Mesa State College physics program, Mesa State College’s chapters of Society of Physics Students and Sigma Pi Sigma propose to involve local middle and high school students in our fourth annual egg drop competition in the spring of 2011. In hopes of encouraging excellence and involvement among those students already attending Mesa State College, we plan on inviting all physics majors and minors at Mesa State College to our annual ΣΠΣ induction ceremony |

Honoring and Connecting Physics Alumni and Current Students
We plan to invite local physics alumni to our 2011 induction ceremony to share their career experiences and contributions to various aspects of the society with students. In addition, we will honor outstanding alumni by presenting them with a certificate. The event will cultivate students’ appreciation for physics study and the contributions that members of the chapter can make to our society, and promote fellowship among alumni, current students, and faculty of our department. The award will be used to cover expenses for certificates and the ceremony dinner. |

Alumni Panel & Dinner Honoring SPS Inductees & Undergraduate Research Day Presenters
We request funding to hold the 2011 Sigma Pi Sigma induction ceremony,
which we will have as a joint ceremony with Pi Mu Epsilon, the math honor
society at UCF. We will invite a guest to speak, and we will provide lunch
for all physics students who choose to attend. |

2011 Sigma Pi Sigma and Society of Physics Students Induction Banquet
The activity is an end of year banquet for the Benedictine University Sigma Pi Sigma Chapter and Society of Physics Students. The event will include faculty members, alumni, family, and friends. During this banquet there will be the induction of new Sigma Pi Sigma members and honoring of graduating Society of Physics Student members. |
